Soon there will be room

Tuesday, July 8th, 2008

We are giving Coby back. It was a hard decision. We have fought long and hard to keep him, but he is hitting the wall of improvement. Short of getting the Dog Whisperer to come out here, there is nothing more we can personally do to make sure Coby has a happy, long, fulfilled life. He really needs somewhere he can run outside most of the day chasing animals that no one will miss if he plays too hard with them. I like Coby, but it’s gotten to be too much with his ways.

So, soon there will be room to stick treadmills and all kinds of other things, because there will be an empty space where Coby used to reside. I am so sad about it, but unless he suddenly can handle being inside when we are not home, there is no way we can keep him. We are planning to move soon, and he won’t have the freedom he has now.

If anyone knows a place that he can go that won’t put him down, or has a home where he can live happy and free to be his wonderful self, please do let us know. We would rather him NOT have to be put down. He isn’t a bad dog. He is loving, protective, caring, and energetic. He adores my son and would die for him. He loves to play and wrestle. He loves to chase animals. He loves to be loved. He would be awesome for anyone with small children, a yard, and a home he would be able to sleep in at night with the family.

The longest day: Car trouble

Monday, June 9th, 2008

Well, truck trouble. Yesterday, I prepared myself and my son for the long, hot journey to my cousin’s house for the birthday party. On the way, I found myself looking at a little red icon lit on my dashboard:

battery.

So I text my husband (wish I would have had a Bluetooth headset then, cuz the text wasn’t quite enough info), and he says he forgot to charge the battery. That’s all he said. Okay,so I figure I have time to get to my aunt’s, then my father’s and get him to charge it. I only barely made it to my cousin’s house. By the time I got to the city where she lives, I had no signal lights, no ABS and no brake lights.

I had a good time at the party, then called my father to come with his charger. After a few wrong turns, he got there and charged up the truck battery. Surprise! It wouldn’t keep a charge, so my family decided that we should drive it to Wal-Mart and get a new battery instead of trying to continuously charge this one.

That’s where the real fun began.

It took us 3 hours, and a God sent good Samaritan named Tom Earl, to get the battery loose from my truck to install the brand new one. We had to get tools and it was just not pretty. I even injured my hand, which is making it difficult to work today *sigh*. The battery kept its charge long enough to get to my mom’s house, and then come home. The fact is:

We need a new alternator.

When I got home, I came in on a horror scene. The dog had broken from his cage, eaten everything that we told him he wasn’t allowed to have (seriously), threw it all up all over my house, peed, and rubbed his hair on everything. Needless to say, his nasty self stayed outside last night. … sometimes I wonder why I got a dog.

Pet hair vacuum?

Monday, October 8th, 2007

My husband doesn’t like our vacuum. He has been looking at compact models like the Miele vacuum. I wish there was a model specifically for pet hair. We have so much in our carpet…it’s good that the dog and carpet are the same color. If not, I can just imagine how much I would be sitting on the floor picking up every hair by hand. I can’t seem to figure a way to get most of it out of the fibers.

Coby’s stomach

Wednesday, July 18th, 2007

Every time I leave my do at the kennel he comes back with a stomach ache. I guess I am going to have to send the food that we have with him instead of him eating their food. They use a high grade Organic dog food that he is no longer used to eating. Poor thing. He comes home just ready to eat as much grass as he can to try and fix his stomach.

Car trouble, hair do’s, health scares, and puppy tails

Monday, May 7th, 2007

WELL what a lovely day I had.

My son and I were headed to my mother’s so that I could get my hair done. On the way we had a few stops to make. That was loads of fun, as there is still a huge detour around the bridge near my house. What they are doing to that bridge, I have no idea. It’s been closed since February. So we had to make a huge U turn of sorts so I could go to the store, get some gas, drop off the dog, all while technically waiting for UPS to let me know when they were going to be at my house. I bought something interesting today while I was out, though I hesitate to say what. Why? well I might tell you in pictures

Developments: chair, car, phone, coffee, dog

Friday, April 27th, 2007

If you read my blogs you will know that we had our computer chair break and had been looking for a new one. The other day my son helped me to break the chair we were using for the computer so it was a bare necessity to get another one right away. Yesterday, I took off to Walmart and bought their leather office chair for under $50. It is so comfortable!

Husby got to finish my car yesterday before the rains came. It took him the better part of the day. We thought the brake line had been loose, and from my view it seemed as if it were only the back brake that was affected. Come to find out, the brake line had snapped at the bolt. Husby, being the handy man that he is, was able to take the same length of piping and securely reattach the broken bolt.

The dog decided to take off yesterday, but I will talk more about that later. At least I didn’t end up with hard feelings toward the dog, but I don’t think he will take off again for a while after yesterday…

I got my Kona in the mail from Marisa. I have a tribute to write to her later…

Husby had his phone stolen yesterday *at least that’s what I gather from the unusual story around it*. So here we go again … on another saga with VM for a new phone…ugh.

I had quite a day

Sunday, April 1st, 2007

This morning I was assigned the task of hopping across the bridge to cash a check and get some supplies for the house. It started with me having to negotiate the terms to leave with a 4 year old boy, finally getting him ready, securing the hound, and leaving.

P1010013 (by SockMopTart)I got some gas in the car, went to McD’s for a McGriddle and iced coffee, swung back across the way to Wendy’s for some nuggets for the kid, then headed across the bridge.

The bank didn’t open its lines till 11 so we had 1/2 an hour to walk around BJs. That was calm enough. Took us about that long to shop and be gone. I bought a huge pack of nuggets, ground beef, skinless chicken, juice, and soy milk. Then we went back to the bank, did our business there, and headed home.

All that was fine and dandy, until I actually got back to my house. That’s when I found out what the dog had been doing in the less than 3 hours since I had gone from the house.

Hard day…

Thursday, February 1st, 2007

The child won’t stop being defiant. The dog is being treated differently today because I am having issues with him growling. The husband is home but not home since he has a business meeting today. It’s my sister’s 21st birthday and I can’t see her till Saturday. Between the dog and the kid I might just pull out all my hair, but I will have 2 well trained boys even if I do go bald.
